The Back of Beyond Pidurangala is situated of four acres of jungle land at the base of the Pidurangala rock. The excellent bird watching offered by the site has afforded it the name "Kurulu Uyana" (bird park) by the local villages.
The compound has an open format bungalow for up to 8 adults and 3 children, as well as three individual cottages which share a common lounge and dining/pantry area and has an attic space that can be used as a lounge or as additional sleep space. In keeping with the Back of Beyond philosophy of minimising energy usage, all bedrooms have fans instead of air conditioners. All guests are provided with mosquito nets and all rooms have attached toilets with hot and cold water.
Food has always been a vital part of most Sri Lankan family holidays, and so too at BoB. The resident cooks prepare a wide variety of dishes including Sri Lankan favourites as well as some Western dishes. If you would like to bring your own groceries, the cooks would be happy to prepare them for you.
Kurulu Uyana is surrounded by forest that is typical to the north central plains of Sri Lanka. It is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers. The staff are specially trained to help you identify birds, butterflies and trees in the forest. As the property borders an elephant path, elephant sightings are also possible, especially during the dry season.
