When the North Central Plains are cooler Grey Langur, Toque Monkeys and the endemic Purple faced leaf monkey can be can in the histori sites such as Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya.
The southern part of the country is teeming with migrants such as the Brown Shrike and Indian Pitta. Migrant waders seem to invade wetlands such as Bundala and Kalamatiya
